City built on the principles of Sustainable Design.
MASDAR.
Jeque Mohammend Bin Zayde Al Nahyan Norman Foster
Masdar is an eco-city project requested in 2006 by Sheikh Bin Mohammend Zayde Al Nahyan to the British group of design and architecture "Foster & Partners", directed by Norman Foster.
Masdar is located 17 kilometers from the city in Abu Dhabi UAE, and will, as its initial project served by a city solar emergy.
This city is conceived in a compact, with narrow streets protected from the winds of the desert by great walls and solar power generation. In Masdar aims to minimize negative environmental agents or contaminants, so it is stipulated that the traffic would fall on bicycles and walking for short distances, and magnetic transport for long distances, thus allowing to use vehicles.

Magnetic transport
The pedestrian streets are covered with photovoltaic panels designed to create shade and how to power the city.
The name of the city "Masdar" means "source", since its narrow streets of 3 meters wide by 70 feet long flow in a square with colonnades and fountains.
Recycling in this city will be very important. The fresh water consumption reduced by 80% and replaced by desalinated water, and wastewater will be treated to reutilizaras in irrigation of fields and crops
Desalination process scheme
Masdar aims to be a walled city with capacity to house in 2015 50,000, and approximately 1,500 businesses.
